LEARNING AND PEDAGOGY
HEC Group of Institutions is built on the foundation of imparting academic excellence, an
industry-oriented curriculum and overall development of the students. All the courses that form a
part of HEC’s course are aimed to have a perfect blend of professional and traditional learning.
HEC’s pedagogy or its methods and practices of teaching combine several philosophies to present the
best result to students:
HEC does not only focus on generating capable candidates for job sectors but also on making
better human beings. All the courses offered to the students focus on the overall
development. Budding entrepreneurs are groomed with courses on Entrepreneurship and in
Entrepreneurship Center. Students' soft skills and language skills are sharpened through
various courses and hands-on practice. Elective courses are also offered to students to
present excellent choices and multidisciplinary knowledge.
Various courses are distributed to know a variety of domains. Special care is taken to
distribute these courses year-wise to have a continuous growth of the students every year.
Credits are also distributed in such a way that students acquire sufficient knowledge and
skills every year successively. The curriculum is designed on the philosophy of
Outcome-Based Education (OBE). Objectives and outcomes are defined for each course and are
linked with the Program Objectives.
HEC Group of Institutions, ever since their inceptions have been pioneering the ‘case method
of instruction’, which is a widely accepted form of teaching in world-class institutions
like the Harvard Business School, Yale University, Cornell University, Stanford Graduate
School of Business, Indian School of Business, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad
etc. In this method, students are encouraged to work through complex, ambiguous, real-world
problems and analyse them closely by putting themselves in those life-like situations. Case
studies thus can help to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Working on cases
requires students to search and evaluate multiple sources of data, encouraging them to
research. The case method helps to develop real-world, professional skills - organizational,
time management, written and oral communication, presentation, collaboration, team
management and decision-making skills. In other words, case studies force students into
real-life situations and help to develop real-life skills.
The core philosophy of the college is to use the diversity of the class group as a learning
tool. HEC thus integrates students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds as well as
diverse abilities into the mainstream classroom. As a precursor to the Right to Education
Act, HEC has been providing equal opportunities and inclusive education and has been
reaching out to all sections of society including the elite and economically disadvantaged
GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL CELL
Fortification and assurance of human rights are necessary for the holistic development of an
individual’s personality. Academic progress can only happen in an environment where an individual is
assured of justice and fairness. To this end and in compliance with UGC directives HEC Group of
Institutions has constituted a Grievance Redressal Cell. The cell aims to understand and rectify the
grievances of students and parents. The function of the cell is to look into the complaints lodged
by any student and judge their merit. The Grievance Cell is also empowered to look into matters of
harassment. Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the department members in person or consult
with the officer in charge Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC).
The Grievance Redressal Cell has been developed to settle the grievances of the students and
other stakeholders within a reasonable period for further strengthening the bond of the
students with the institution by providing them with all kinds of facilities to a
satisfaction level for maintaining a convenient ambience of academic teaching and learning.
The grievance procedure is a mechanism to redress the grievance of a student who considers
that, he/she has been subject to unjust or discriminatory behaviour concerning his/her
academic/administrative affairs or is convinced to be discriminated in accordance with the
rules and regulations of the college.
The students may feel free to put up a grievance in writing/or in the format
available in the admin dept. and drop it in boxes.
The Grievance Cell will act upon those cases which have been forwarded along with the
necessary documents.
The Grievance Cell will assure that the grievance has been properly solved in a
stipulated time limit provided by the cell.
The students may lodge grievances about any academic and non-academic matters related to -
Timely issue of duplicate Mark-sheets, Transfer Certificates, Conduct Certificates or
other examination and scholarship related matters.
To dues and payments for various items from the library, hostels and other financial
matters.
Certain misgivings about conditions of sanitation, preparation of food, availability
of transport, victimization by teachers and any other offensive activity.
Anti–Ragging Committee
Ragging has led to the destruction of countless lives and careers. The college has
strict compliance against any sort of ragging activity.
In accordance with the judgement passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and the UGC guidelines
in the matter, the institute has formulated a robust anti-ragging committee. The body ensures
